Family Member of Swedish Minister Is ‘Active in White Supremacist Groups’

From The Local:

According to anti-racist magazine Expo, which broke the story, a Swedish government minister has a family member who is active in Sweden’s extreme right and white supremacist movements. They have also tried to recruit people to the white supremacist organisation Det fria Sverige (The Free Sweden) via social media.

It's also claimed the family member has collaborated closely with an activist from Nordiska motståndsrörelsen (Nordic Resistance Movement).

The unnamed person has reportedly also taken part in activities alongside Aktivklubb Sverige, a violent neo-Nazi organisation.

My Subtle Protest

A Swedish flag in my balcony window.

In Malmö, Sweden, Palestinian flags hang from a few windows in almost every neighbourhood, but this is also one of Europe’s most anti-Semitic cities, so what can you expect? As a subtle protest, I have hung a Swedish flag on my balcony. I would have preferred an Israeli one, but I know that others have endured threats and vandalism. But I am both a Swedish and Israeli citizen, so the Swedish flag is probably provocative enough. I have a bit of a problem with the cross, but Sweden is fundamentally a Christian country, so you have to accept that.

Who Was Buried in Salome’s Cave

“New research suggests that a burial site once venerated by Christian pilgrims likely belonged to a member of Herod’s dynasty rather than a New Testament figure.” Read it at the Times of Israel.

The Case Against UNRWA

UNRWA, despite its claims to be a humanitarian agency, has forged an unholy alliance with Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and other terrorist organisations. Read it at UN Watch.

Shabbat message in the colours of the Swedish flag.

It’s Friday afternoon. A few hours until proper sunset, but I love Shabbat, so I start early.

‘Queers for Palestine’ and the Death of Irony

The logotype of Queers for Palestine against the Hamas flag.

Iranian writer Armin Navabi at Queer Majority:

On the surface, “Queers for Palestine” attempts to meld LGBT advocacy with Palestinian liberation, a juxtaposition that has precipitated a whirlpool of ridicule and criticism due to the fact that LGBT rights scarcely exist within the Muslim world, and the Palestinian territories are no exception. The slogan has been widely satirised with variations like “Chickens for KFC” or “Blacks for the KKK”, which highlight the basic lack of awareness of just how incompatible the values of the Western left are with the Islamic right they so readily champion.

The Kafka Trap Explained

A Kafka Trap is a fallacy where, if someone denies being X, it is taken as evidence that the person is X since someone who is X would deny being X. The name is derived from the novel The Trial by Franz Kafka. The reason this is fallacious is that it lumps together people who genuinely are not guilty of a perceived offence in with people who have committed the perceived offence and are trying to escape punishment.

Syllogism:

  1. Only a rapist would deny being a rapist.
  2. Peter says he’s not a rapist.
  3. Peter is a rapist.

This fallacy is quite popular these days.

Some of the World’s Worst Human-Rights Violators Gather to Condemn Israel’s War on Hamas

In Bogotá, self-proclaimed human-rights champions such as China, Cuba, Venezuela, Iraq, and Qatar have gathered to condemn Israel and praise themselves for protecting international law. “No country is above the law, and no crime will go unanswered,” a South African minister said before the meeting. Why not start by looking at the many violations conducted by those present at the table? Read it at Ynetnews.

Special Report on the Sexual Crimes of Hamas in the October 2023 Terror Attacks

Cover of report on rape by Hamas terrorists.

“Many of the bodies of sexual crime victims were found bound and shackled. The genitals of both women and men were brutally mutilated, and sometimes weapons were inserted into them. The terrorists did not stop at shooting; they also cut and mutilated sexual organs and other body parts with knives.” The report was made by the Association of Rape Crisis Centres in Israel. You can read it here.

Iran in Danger of Complete Water Shortage

“Iran is currently experiencing a major water crisis,” the Jerusalem Post writes. “The Iranian government has declared an emergency public holiday in Tehran Province as the nation grapples with a severe water shortage and energy crisis, compounded by soaring temperatures that have pushed the country’s aging infrastructure to its breaking point.”

Bret Stephens: ‘No, Israel Is Not Committing Genocide in Gaza’

From Bret Stephens’s article in the New York Times:

It may seem harsh to say, but there is a glaring dissonance to the charge that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza. To wit: If the Israeli government’s intentions and actions are truly genocidal—if it is so malevolent that it is committed to the annihilation of Gazans—why hasn’t it been more methodical and vastly more deadly? Why not, say, hundreds of thousands of deaths, as opposed to the nearly 60,000 that Gaza’s Hamas-run Health Ministry, which does not distinguish between combatant and civilian deaths, has cited so far in nearly two years of war?

It’s not that Israel lacks the capacity to have meted vastly greater destruction than what it has inflicted so far. It is the leading military power of its region, stronger now that it has decimated Hezbollah and humbled Iran. It could have bombed without prior notice, instead of routinely warning Gazans to evacuate areas it intended to strike. It could have bombed without putting its own soldiers, hundreds of whom have died in combat, at risk.

Journalists Covering the Middle East Are Sometimes Tied to Terrorists

“No doubt, horrible things are happening in Gaza, but without all the context, you rarely know what is happening. For instance, a story that informs you that X number of people were shot at an aid distribution centre might leave out the fact that it was Hamas killing Gaza civilians, not the Israeli Army.” Read it at Hot Air.

Massive Explosion in Malmö

Another night, another bomb. This city is a war zone. Well, not really, but sometimes it feels like one. Read it at Aftonbladet.
