Jaffa Clock Tower

Jaffa230402

Went for a long walk through Tel Aviv to Jaffa today. Behaved like a tourist and took photos of the clock tower. It was built by a Jewish architect in 1900. So it’s neither old nor Turkish, even though it was constructed under Ottoman rule.

A Day Trip to Sderot

Sderot240403

I had to go to Sderot today. The town is right on the border with Gaza and on 7 October 2023, Hamas terrorists went from house to house slaughtering innocent people in their homes. Many of those Hamas has kidnapped come from Sderot.

Bureaucracy240403

Sderot seems an odd choice for a day trip, but I need an ID card, and the only office that had time available was in this town. The ID card should arrive by post in a couple of weeks.

One of the must-see features in Sderot is the lookout place where you get a great view of Gaza. Unfortunately, the sun and a sand fog made it difficult to take a good photo.

Anyhow, Sderot is now off my bucket list.

Ramat Gan Skyscrapers

As some of you might know, I have a thing for skyscrapers, so today, when I took a really long walk through Ramat Gan, I captured these buildings with my mobile.

US Believes Iranian Attack on Israel Is Imminent

Iran240411

“Citing people familiar with US and Israeli intelligence assessments, Bloomberg reported Iran could launch strikes involving high-precision missiles and drones targeting military and government sites in Israel,” the Times of Israel reports. “One of the people quoted in the report said it was a matter of when—not if-Tehran will attack Israel.”

Iran’s First Ever Direct Attack on Israel

I slept through it all. Was very tired and took a sleeping pill on top of that. Had been shown the basement shelter by my landlord’s son earlier in the evening. Everyone was tense. But in Tel Aviv, the night was quite calm. Not so in other parts of the country. Hundreds of missiles and drones interrupted by the Israeli Defence Force. Targets seem to have been in the Negev, Galilee, and Golan Heights.

The UN Security Council will hold an emergency meeting later today. This meeting will not result in anything. Russia will of course block any resolution against their Iranian friend. Dictator thugs cooperate against democracy and decency.

Anyhow, people are now discussing a possible Israeli response. We’ll see what happens.

US Senator Elizabeth Warren on Iran’s Attack

@senwarren on Threads:

I strongly condemn Iran’s attacks. The U.S. supports the Israeli people during this difficult moment and Israel’s right to defend itself against this dangerous aggression.

We need an urgent deescalation and a ceasefire in Gaza to prevent a wider regional conflict.

A few days ago, she spoke of Isreal being guilty of genocide. Now she seems to have come to her senses.

‘From the River to the Sea’ Is a Call for Genocide

According to an article in The Hill, Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah, recently explained to Jews what the phrase means. “Here,” he said, “you don’t have a future, and, from the river to the sea, the land of Palestine is for the Palestinians and for the Palestinian people only.”

This is a call for genocide, a second Holocaust. This in contrast to the nonsense that Israel wants to kill off all Gazans.

Professor Nadera Shalhoub-Kevorkian at Hebrew University Suspended after Saying Jews Should Fear Her

Nadera Shalhoub-Kevorkian, a criminologist and law professor in Jerusalem, voices the delusional hate that makes up much of the pro-Palestinian narrative. From the Times of Israel:

“We need to look at them [Israeli Jews? as criminals and we need to analyze them from a criminal perspective. This is how I see it as Nadera. And it’s not dehumanizing them at all. It’s just realizing we are dealing with vicious criminals and somebody should stop them.”

I’m so sick of these absurdities.

Palestinian Activist Mocks Remembrance of Holocaust

“As dignitaries stood on stage in Warsaw to mark the 81st anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising, a lone figure got up to join them: a man wearing a hoodie with the colours of the Palestinian flag,” the Times of Israel reports. The man placed flowers atop a pile assembled for the occasion, then moved to the side of the stage where he unfurled a large Palestinian flag and stood with his head down, according to an attendee at the event.“

The Palestinian movement knows no shame. The Arabs in “Palestine” were Hitler’s allies after their meeting with him in Munich in 1941. Now their supporters hijacked the memory of the Holocaust they themselves supported. Their leaders not only supported Hitler, they joined Germany’s Nazi Party.

Jewish Yale Student Journalist Stabbed in the Eye with Palestinian Flag

“There’s hundreds of people taunting me and waving the middle finger at me, and then this person waves a Palestinian flag in my face and jabs it in my eye,” Sahar Tartak, the editor-in-chief of Yale Free Press, told the New York Post.

I suppose this, too, is “anti-Zionism” and not old-school anti-Semitism.

Trump Fans at Lunatic Conference in Las Vegas

The Daily Mail writes about ”the bizarre Las Vegas conference where Trump-loving sheriffs, felons and conspiracy theorists vowed to form militias to patrol polling places and seize voting machines to stop Biden.” My God!

The world has gone mad—at least in Trump quarters. But we knew that already.

Carmel Beach Promenade in Haifa

Haifa240426

I visited Haifa yesterday. It was my first visit to Israel’s third-largest city. It’s a beautiful port that has played a big part in the return of Jews to our homeland. Ships from Cyprus transported Jewish refugees from Europe. Meanwhile, Jewish refugees from the Arab countries entered Israel from the south. I can see myself living in Haifa in the future.

The Media Bias against Israel

When I got back to Tel Aviv from my day trip to Haifa yesterday, I turned to Sky News for the latest updates. What I saw made me furious. After a bizarre report from the anti-Israel protests at American campuses, they had invited an anti-Semite to the studio. She sat there, telling one cliché lie after the other, without any real questions from the interviewer.

University Protest Leader Khymani James Banned from Campus for Saying ‘Zionists Don’t Deserve to Live’

From the Times of Israel:

A video has surfaced of one of the leaders of the anti-Israeli protests at Columbia University stating repeatedly and emphatically that Zionists “don’t deserve to live” and should be killed.

“The existence of them and the projects they have built i.e. Israel, it’s all antithetical to peace. So yes I feel very comfortable—very comfortable—calling for those people to die,” Khymani James said in the January video.

“Be glad, be grateful that I’m not just going out and murdering Zionists,” he added.

Afterwards, when Khymani James realised that he had been caught, he start playing the victim. From Newsweek:

“When I recorded it, I had been feeling unusually upset after an online mob targeted me because I am visibly queer and Black.”

Ilhan Omar Says Jewish Supporters of Israel’s War against Hamas Are ‘Pro-Genocide’

When asked about the anti-Semitic that threatens Jewish students at American university campuses, Ilhan Omar said, “I think it is really unfortunate that people don’t care about the fact that all Jewish kids should be kept safe and that we should not have to tolerate antisemitism or bigotry for all Jewish students, whether they are pro-genocide or anti-genocide.”

Disgusting!

Study Suggests Common Drug Could Extends Lifespan

A hypertension drug has been shown to slow down aging in worms, an effect that in humans could hypothetically help us live longer and keep us healthier in our latter years. This according to a new study published in Aging Cell.

New York Anti-Semitism

From the Wall Street Journal:

The sense of opportunity Efraim Alkoby found in New York was rocked last month when someone splattered red paint on the kosher cafe he owns on Manhattan’s Upper West Side.

Alkoby, who grew up in an Orthodox Jewish family in Jerusalem, said he learned to be tolerant during his 30 years in New York. Now, someone opposed to Israel’s war in Gaza wrote “form line here to support genocide” on the sidewalk outside Effy’s Cafe.

Most Americans Thinks Israel Should Move Forward with Military Operation in Rafah

When asked, “Should Israel move forward with an operation in Rafah to finish the war with Hamas, doing its best to avoid civilian casualties even though there will be casualties, or should it back off now and allow Hamas to continue running Gaza?”

57% of those aged 18-24 said Israel should move forward with a Rafah operation.

Stronger support was found among those over 65, where 84%: said yes.
