Non-Stop Work

It’s Tuesday and I’m early at work. Feels like I’m working non-stop. But, I have a trip back to Israel to look forward to. Leaving on 31 March. Yay!

Super Tuesday 2024

It’s Super Tuesday today. Not so exciting. Trump will win most, if not all, states in these primary elections. Things looks bad for Biden, so soon, America will experience four more years of complete narcissism and stupidity in the White House.

The Golden Age of American Jews Is Ending

“Anti-Semitism on the right and the left threatens to bring to a close an unprecedented period of safety and prosperity for Jewish Americans,” Franklin Foer writes in The Atlantic.

The UN Recognises that Women and Children Were Raped by Hamas

The UN’s Special Envoy on Sexual Violence in Conflict reports “clear and convincing information” that some women and children have been subjected to rape and sexualised torture by Hamas. You’ll find the report here. For once, it seems the UN has actually done its job when it comes to condemning terrorists. Not that it matters much—it will never result in anything beyond this report. All the UN human rights bodies are run by anti-Semitic dictators.

The Arab Response to UN Report on Hamas’s Rape of Israelis

From the Times of Israel:

Al-Quds Al-Arabi UN Bureau Chief Abdelhamid Abdeljaber said the report “is only a validation of the Israeli narrative.”

Nabil Abi Saad from AlAraby TV asked if Patten had seen the bodies of the Israeli victims, and whether she had talked to released Israeli hostages who, according to Abi Saad, had praised Hamas.

Sweden Is Now a NATO Member

Nato240308

“Sweden became NATO’s newest member on Thursday (7 March 2024), upon depositing its instrument of accession to the North Atlantic Treaty with the Government of the United States in Washington DC. With Sweden’s accession, NATO now counts 32 countries among its members,” NATO writes on its website.

The Popular Lie about Israel’s ‘Settler Colonialism’

Israel240311

Shimon Glick:

Clearly, the negative impact of settler colonialism on indigenous native populations can be real, but in the case of Israel, this is a gross misdiagnosis. An honest analysis of the history of Israel/Palestine actually points to the conclusion that it is the Jews who are the true native indigenous population of the region and who have been forcibly exiled for more than 2,000 years.

An unbiased analysis of history will indeed accept the description of genuine settler colonialism in the Middle East but with a serious misidentification of the true victim of this injustice. The Jewish People have the longest consistent history as the legitimate native indigenous nation in the territory under question.

The UN Bias against Jews

Israel’s foreign minister, Israel Katz, says the UN Secretary General failed to properly respond to the Hamas mass murder on 7 October 2023 because its victims were Jewish. The Jerusalem Post reports.

Trump Tells Orban that He Will Not Give Any Money to Ukraine If He Wins

Of course, the weak Putin-puppets are saying this.

From the Guardian:

Donald Trump “will not give a penny” to Ukraine if he is re-elected US president, the far-right Hungarian prime minister, Viktor Orbán, said after a controversial meeting with Trump in Florida.

“He will not give a penny in the Ukraine-Russia war,” Orbán told state media in Hungary on Sunday. “Therefore, the war will end, because it is obvious that Ukraine cannot stand on its own feet.”

According to Orbán, Trump has a “detailed plan” to end the Ukraine war, which began two years ago when Russia invaded.

Shabbat Shalom

Shabbat240315

I know, it’s still a few hours before Shabbat, but it’s good to be early.

שבת שלום!

It’s Monday and I’m Off Soon

I’ve been working every night this past weekend. No Shabbat for me… But in a few hours, I’ll be free for two days. Yay!

I’ll Vote in Favour of a More Liberal Europe

Quiz240319

In June, all European citizens get to vote for new MEPs. A number of Swedish newspapers have published quizzes to help people navigate the election. I just took the one made by Dagens Nyheter, and it’s hardly surprising that the liberal parties came on top. But, apparently, I share the opinion of far-right Sweden Democrats in 28% of the questions. That’s surprising.

Donald Trump on Jewish Democrats

“Any Jewish person that votes for Democrats hates their religion,” Trump said yesterday. “They hate everything about Israel and they should be ashamed of themselves.”

Trump’s an idiot, but the truth is that the Democratic Party harbours some of the most vile anti-Semites in American politics today. Not least congresswomen Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib in the so-called Squad, who attack Israel, dehumanise Jews, and praise terrorism on a daily basis.

Shabbat Shalom

Shabbat240322.jpg

It’s that time of the week. And for once, I’m off work on Shabbat. No saving lives this weekend. Good for me, bad for everyone else.

Empty Space

There’s something soothing about minimalism. Perhaps a longing for simplicity and an existence free from constant stimuli.

Pope Francis Faces Growing Revolt

It’s not easy being a friend of humanity in an organisation known for the Inquisition and the largest paedophile rings.

From Newsweek:

Pope Francis is facing growing dissent among members of the Catholic Church over recent decisions that opponents portray as contrary to traditional church doctrine.

The most controversial has been the publication of a document in December by a Vatican bishop, with the pope’s approval, mooting the “possibility of blessing couples in irregular situations and same-sex couples.” While the document stressed that it did not change the church’s stance on homosexuality, it brought a joint letter from Catholic clergy and scholars calling on others to disregard it.

Previously in his 11-year tenure as the head of the church, the pontiff has raised eyebrows by suggesting that even atheists could go to heaven and saying that he did not judge homosexuals, as well as taking a softer stance on abortion and remarriage.

Why Mette Frederiksen Should Be Next EU Council President

“The Danish prime minister’s understanding of Russia’s neo-revisionist threat means that she is well-placed to build confidence across the EU-27 as it confronts a rapidly evolving security situation,” Hugo Blewett-Mundy writes in EU Observer. “What’s more, Frederiksen’s strong record as a consensus-builder may serve as a catalyst for Scholz, Macron, and Tusk to see eye-to-eye when European cohesion is needed more than ever.”

I’m not sure Frederiksen is right for the job, but it would be nice with someone from the Nordic countries on that position.

Spring Is Approaching

I’m indoors, and through my office window, the spring sun hits the floor. Springtime has found its way to Copenhagen. I’ll leave the office in about three hours, probably after sunset. Saddened by it. After a long, dark winter, I long for sunlight.

The ‘Criticism of Israel Is Not Anti-Semitic’ Nonsense

Mike Offner:

Meanwhile, the proliferation of antisemitic criticism of Israel continues to bombard us daily, with:

  • Jew-hating tropes (control of the global media; control of US foreign policy; greed and use of money for power);
  • inflammatory words applied unilaterally against Israel without thoughtful and rigorous application of definitions to facts or inclusion of relevant history and comparable situations (“genocide”, “apartheid”, “colonial settlers”); and
  • egregious double standards that hold the only Jewish state in the world to “rules” and “principles” somehow never mentioned in the context of any other nation-states, even those whose history and conduct fits the cited rules and principles far better than those of the Jewish state.

And that kind of criticism of Israel is, by definition, Jew-hatred.

Well, some criticism is legit, but Offner is right, much of it isn’t. Common ideas among anti-Israel activist could be mistaken for extracts from The Protocols of the Elders of Zion.
