Team Day 2023
Normally. I drive to work. I’m not exactly a people person in the morning. But today is different. We’re having a team day with alcohol. Yay!

I’m in Copenhagen almost every day of the week, but I have never done the really touristy things. But this past Friday, we had a team day, meaning the management had arranged a fun day out of office. They decided that we should all take a canal tour. So we battled with the tourists and found ourself some seats in a boat. I was surprised by how nice it was to see Copenhagen from the water. I’ve seen it all before, but not from this perspective. I decided to go all in and took many photos. I can’t get more touristy than this.

I haven’t digged into the Israeli debate over basic laws. This is part of it:
“In the case of contradiction between the bill’s rules and other laws or basic laws, the bill seeks to make this one overpower all other laws save basic laws that are specifically legislated to overpower it.”
I’m sure the Jerusalem Post wants to inform its international readers, but this is just too much. Perhaps it makes more sense in Hebrew. I don’t know.
I first read about this latest outburst from Musk, but after reading this article by Michael Hiltzik, I think any sane person ought to consider leaving X-Twitter.

I’m going to Israel in three weeks time and thought I needed some shekels. Normally, I don’t get cash before travelling, but since Israeli banks are ridiculous with their fees for using cash machines, I’ll come prepared.

The Washington madness continues. Now it seems Trump wants revenge by having his cronies do to the innocent what the righteous did to him.
“If you asked me 10 or 20 years ago, I would probably have said that the main problems facing freedom of expression emanate from religious extremism,” Salman Rushdie said at the National First Amendment Summit yesterday. “I think now we’re facing another old enemy, which is authoritarianism. I think there’s a real rise in authoritarian movements around the world, populist authoritarian demagoguery.
I wish I could say he’s wrong. Unfortunately, he’s not.
By the end of 2048, Israel’s population is expected to reach 15 million people.
At sundown, the year 5784 begins.

On my way to Spain for a few day off work. Planning on study some Hebrew. Bought a beginners textbook for 7-year-olds.

There are still a few hours to go before Shabbat begins, but I will go offline now and focus on rest.

Travelled from Gran Canaria to Malmö today. No seat available on any direct flights, so I had to to make a stop in Barcelona. Took this photo when we descended.
I’m disgustedly the anti-Semitism now becoming mainstream in Pride events. Exclusion of gay and transgender Jews is not progressive, it’s the exact opposite. They say it’s because of Israel, but denying the Jewish people a homeland is anti-Semitism and nothing else.

Tonight, it’s not just the beginning of Shabbat. Tonight, Sukkot begins. Sukkot is a week-long festival commemorating the sheltering of the Israelites in the wilderness. Traditionally, one is expected to live in a Sukka, which is a temporary shelter covered in leaves, branches, and other material from nature.
