Spain Proposes €1.5 Trillion Virus Fund

“The fund would be financed by debt raised by the commission and backed by the EU budget and the money would be sent in the form of grants, not loans, to countries,” EU Observer writes.

One thing’s for sure, we need a common approach to crises like this.

Per Olov Enquist 1934–2020

Few authors have meant more to me than him. I’ve never been able to put my finger on it, but there is such poetry in his prose—even when he wrote about contemporary politics and historic events. The only time it found it hard to like him was in 1994, when Sweden had its referendum on EU membership. He campaigned against, I’ve always been a strong Europhile.

If I were to recommend just one work by Enquist, it would be his play, The Hour of the Lynx. It’s painfully beautiful in its intense humaneness.

Goodbye, Per Olov Enquist, and thank you for everything you wrote.
