4,000-Year-Old Blades Found (Modern Things Have Always Existed)

Archaeologists from Tel Aviv University have discovered thousands of 4,000-year-old blades at a cave in Israel. “Their discovery, announced on Monday, questions the notion that blade production is exclusively linked with recent modern humans,” Jerusalem Post reports. “Every element of the blades, from the choice of raw material to the production method itself, points to a sophisticated tool production system to rival the blade technology used hundreds of thousands of years later.”

The history of industrialisation might have to me rewritten.

This made me think of the song “The Modern Things” from Björk’s album Post (1995):

All the modern things
Like cars and such
Have always existed

They’ve just been waiting in a mountain
For the right moment

Listening to the irritating noises
Of dinosaurs and people
Dabbling outside

All the modern things
Have always existed
They’ve just been waiting

To come out
And multiply
And take over

They’re tired of waiting now.
