A Giant Step Towards Separation of Religion and State in Israel

An Israeli court has ruled that the writer Yoram Kaniuk has the right to be registered with the Interior Ministry as “without religion” rather than as Jewish. It might seem strange, but in a country where one stream of Judaism has a monopoly on religion, it’s a big step forward.
