Apple Criticised for Approving App Said to Tell ‘Truth to a World Impacted by Homosexuality’
Exodus International, a radical religious organisation known for bullying gay people into depression and suicide, has created an iPhone application said to mobilise “the body of Christ to minister grace and truth to a world impacted by homosexuality,” i.e., cure gays. Now Apple is under fire from gay-right activists for approving the application. Personally, I hate the message of the homophobic lobby, but in a free society, homophobes must be allowed to speech their perverted ideas. Of course, Apple owns the right to decide what applications will run in its devices, and if they whose to delete this one, I have no problem with it. However, to delete every controversial and morally upsetting application might not be into the company’s interest. A better way to combat religious homophobia would be to create an application designed to help people who struggle with the backwards, fundamentalist theology of these groups.
