Slavery Produced a Genuine Affection between the Races

According to Hatewatch, this is what evangelical pastor Douglas Wilson wrote in a 1996 book entitled Southern Slavery, As it Was. Wilson appears in a new film about the merits of Christianity, in which he debates the issue with atheist Christopher Hitchens.

A website called Intelligence Report write about some excerpted “highlights” from the book:

“Slavery as it existed in the South … was a relationship based upon mutual affection and confidence,” the excerpts read in part. “There has never been a multiracial society which has existed with such mutual intimacy and harmony in the history of the world. …

“Slave life was to them [slaves] a life of plenty, of simple pleasures, of food, clothes, and good medical care.”

Eh?
