World AIDS Day 2005

The United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS estimates that over forty million people are living with HIV. The AIDS epidemic will claim more than three million lives while close to five million people acquire the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) this year alone. Today, on World AIDS Day, people come together not only for remembrance of all victims, but also for reflection on this plague of our time.
I will light a candle, put on a red ribbon, and hope many do the same. The AIDS epidemic is stoppable.
